Wayne Gerard "Skeeter" Harris Sr., Ph.D., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. He was 83. He was the youngest child of William Garland and Laura Leatherwood Harris of Carriere, Miss. He was a graduate of McNeese State University and obtained his Masters and Doctorate of Entomology from LSU. He was an Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charmaine Gloria Harris; his brother, Aubin "Fritz" Harris (MS) and family; his six children; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Garland and Laura Leatherwood Harris, six brothers, a sister and one grandson, Robert "Jeremy" Harris. A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4.
