Phillip Bradford “Brad” Haik passed away suddenly at home on March 8, 2022. Brad was born in Natchez, Mississippi on June 6, 1963, and grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, graduating from Forest Hill High School. He continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi, obtaining a degree in communication. While at USM he was a proud member of the Hattiesburg Hall Haulers. After graduation from college, Brad enjoyed a successful career in medical sales.
While living in Louisiana, Brad became a convert to the Catholic faith and began a long career in various charitable works. Through his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus, he devoted much of his free time to service to others, spearheading many projects that benefited both the Knights and his parish church. He was named Grand Knight for the St. Jean Vianney chapter of the Knights of Columbus.
Always the consummate salesman, Brad will be fondly remembered for his ability to fill any lull in a conversation with his superb gift of gab. His unwavering positive attitude, enabled Brad to always imagine a good outcome for even the worst situation. He could make every person he met feel at ease and important simply by listening to them. Truly, Brad never met a stranger.
The most memorable of Brad’s qualities was his abiding love for his family. His wife, Rita, and daughters, Sarah and Sophie, were the center of his world. He relished the opportunity to host and entertain their colleagues and friends. And any type of school activity received his undivided attention. Brad could be seen cooking, building, transporting, and sometimes even cleaning if that was the chore that needed to be accomplished. Anything that was important to Rita and the girls was important to Brad. His devotion to and love of his family was the greatest hallmark of his life.
Brad was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Rita Israel Haik, and his parents, Robert and Barbara Haik.
He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Haik; Sophia Grace Haik; and soon to be son in law, Cody Roy, all of Lafayette, LA; his brother, Robert Ellis Haik III; and sister, Linda Haik Hardy, both of Jacksonville, FL. Brad is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Israel Grant, Gil and Bonnie Israel, Lori and Coy D Flanagan, Joe and Mary Lou Israel, Ricky Israel, and Bootsie and Hank Cooper, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Jean Vianney on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation at the church from 9:30 until the hour of the service. A rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus at 9:15 at the church.
