Kwan Jang Nim Randall "Randy" Scott Chontas, age 60, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on June 12, 2022. He was born in Johnstown, PA on May 11, 1962. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and students. He is survived by his mother Sally Hays and husband Don Hays, father Arthur Chontas and wife Jane Chontas, two brothers Trent Chontas and Troy Chontas & wife Peggy Chontas. Randy was Uncle to nieces, Bethany and Rebekah & her husband George, and nephews, Christopher, Nicholas & wife Darcie, Andrew and wife Kelly, Robert and six (6) grand nieces and nephews. Most days Randy could be found walking his dog companion, Kizzy (WEWE) in the neighborhood throughout the day and visiting with friends. He always had a pocket of treats in case they ran into a canine friend along the way. Randy was Founder & Grandmaster of The Traditional Tang Soo Do Organization. Randy was a practitioner and instructor of Traditional Tang Soo Do for over 40 years and has taught over 1,000 students the Korean Art of Tang Soo Do. He had achieved the level of an 8th Degree Black belt and had taught all ages the art of self-defense in his multiple schools. Other passions included gardening; he had an array of exotic flowers and plants which he freely gave to neighbors who shared his interest. He also loved to experiment with recipes, mostly healthy cooking, and would share his knowledge through multiple social media sites.
