Richard lived life his way—his beloved dogs in his lap, a cold Bud in hand, and Gunsmoke on TV.
Richard was a pest control professional, but to his customers (and especially their dogs), he was a trusted friend. Known for his brutally honest demeanor, if he teased you, complained about you, or pretended to be annoyed by you, it probably meant he loved you.
He never met a stranger and just like his ’69 Barracuda, he had a way of turning heads and making friends wherever he went.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Manfred and Theresa Johnscher. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 40 years, Michelle, his son and hunting partner Dean, daughter-in-law Ashley, and his three granddaughters, Skyla, Avery, and Blair, who could soften even his grumpiest moods, his sister Diane Kegley (Mike), his sisters-in-law, Sharon Barley, Toni Vercher (Steve), and Jodi Burr, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Richard will be especially missed by his dogs, Button and Gus, who he claimed weren’t spoiled- they just had him well trained.
A celebration of life, Richard’s Last Call, will be held on Sunday, February 1st, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at The Chef’s Table by Beauxjax in the East Bank District, Bossier City, LA. A brief memorial will be shared at 5:00 p.m. Please dress casually—in true Richard fashion.
Raise a glass, tell his stories, and if there’s a dog around, give it some extra love for Richard. He’d like that.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s memory to Ninna’s Road to Rescue https://www.roadtorescuela.org/donate
