Venable, Richard L."Papa"I have finished my course, I have kept the faith 2nd Timothy 4:7. A resident of Greenwell Springs and a native of Harahan passed away peacefully Thursday, September 4, 2014 in Baton Rouge at age 74. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he was a retired engineer with AT&T and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife Joan Chriss Venable; three children, Jim Venable and wife, Darla Davis Venable, Pollyanna Venable, and Denise Venable Kirschenhunter and husband Edward Kirschenhunter; grandchildren, Jimmy, Kate, Heather, Chelsea, Eric, Rocky, Casey, Daniel, and Paige Cecelia, 2 grand-sons in law, Daniel and Josh; great grandchildren, Anna Kate, Heidi, Linus, Clara Grace, Jonas, and Kinsley; extended family Jamie Price and her daughter, Rebecca Morrish, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Excell and Vivian Venable; and a sister, Cynthia Thomasson. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home , 11000 Florida Blvd., Monday, September 8, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. Visitation at Days United Methodist, 23689 Hwy 43, Liverpool, Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
