A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed from this life on January 4, 2023. He was born on February 24, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Camille and his daughter, Florie Claire Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Esther F. Menzie, and his brother, Jack Menzie.
Dick accepted God’s gift of eternal life offered through faith in Jesus the Christ. He was, and Camille remains, a faithful member of the Campus Bible Class and supporter of Radio Bible Courses, a nondenominational ministry of Christian laypersons. Dick loved our country and the ideals and principles on which it was founded. He believed in traditional values of marriage, hard work, honesty, friendship, loyalty, and perseverance. A faithful husband, Dick was devoted to his wife and provided for her. During his career, he worked in construction, real estate, and real estate development.
To some, Dick appeared gruff on the exterior and he had a unique sense of humor, but within he was kind, considerate, and genuinely concerned about the well-being of others. He loved fishing, thoroughbred horse racing, domestic and international travel, particularly Mexico, dabbling in real estate, and investing in the stock market. He was an avid fan of LSU football.
While difficult to express in only a few words, the summation of the life of Richard Clair “Dick” Menzie is: Christian, patriot, husband, father, brother, friend. He is now in God’s loving arms which is the destiny of all who have placed their faith in Jesus for the remission of their sins. “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10,2023 followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge. Memorial donations may be made to Radio Bible Courses, PO Box 14916, Baton Rouge, LA 70898 (www.rbcword.org). Please sign the online guest book at www.dignitymemorial.com.
