Richard (Dick) Augustine Najolia, a resident of St. James Place, Baton Rouge, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on February 7, 1938 in New Orleans, LA and spent his childhood in St. Bernard Parish where he was a member of the first graduating class of Chalmette High School in 1955. On February 12, 1965, he married the love of life, Judith Nell Fuller Najolia. They shared 60 beautiful years of marriage and, together, they lived life to the fullest. He attended Louisiana State University where he received his B.S. in Accounting from LSU College of Commerce in 1959 and his Juris Doctorate from LSU School of Law in 1968. He practiced law in New Orleans for over 40 years where he worked as a single practitioner and went on to work for Wink Engineering. He retired from practicing law in 2004 but continued to provide notary services throughout the remainder of his life. In 2012, he was honored by the Louisiana State Bar Association with a certificate recognizing 50 years of service in the practice of law. After retiring, he and Judy returned to Baton Rouge, where they enjoyed attending countless LSU Baseball and Football games together. A devoted New York Yankees fan throughout his life, he watched the Yankees win one last time before his passing. Above all, he will be remembered as a true gentleman—devoted to serving others and known for his sharp wit and warm humor. Richard, an only child, was pre-deceased by his parents, Dominick F. and Mary Evelyn Adams Najolia. He is survived by his wife, Judith Nell Fuller Najolia; his cousins C. J. Abadie, Ronald Mistrot, Edward Munster, Cynthia Munster, Janis Eck, Kenneth Najolia, and Dottie Lamb, Barbra Anglade; along with many dear cousins and close friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff members of Caring Companions of St. James and Audubon Hospice. We would also like to express gratitude towards Renee and Michael Donahue for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. James Foundation, 333 Lee Drive, LA 70808 or to a charity of your choice.
