Richard Boyd Ammon, affectionately known as “Rick”, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him on Saturday July 4, 2026, with fireworks in the sky. A fitting farewell for a man who lived boldly, worked hard, laughed often, and embraced life to the fullest.
Rick was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and spent most of his life in Baton Rouge. He attended Broadmoor Elementary and High School, where he played football and formed a close-knit group of lifelong friends. Those friendships remained important throughout his life.
He later attended Louisiana State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. During his time there, he developed a deep love for LSU athletics and remained a loyal, lifelong Tigers fan.
Rick was an exceptional businessman, a natural entrepreneur, and a man known for his remarkable work ethic. He began his career working alongside his mother in the family business. In 1984, he founded AMMON Staffing and AMMON Temp Staffers, building the company into a respected and successful staffing firm. More than four decades later, the company continues to thrive. The legacy of his business will be carried on by his eldest son.
Though he was a successful businessman, his life’s greatest accomplishment was being a father to his three sons; Boyd, Brandon, and Brian. He had immense pride in each of their professional and personal successes. They share memories of travels together and the love of James Bond movies. His five grandchildren also held a special place in his heart and evoked his youthful spirit. He and his wife, Pamela, built a loving and adventurous life together.
While raising his children, winters were often reserved for snow skiing while summers were spent boating on the water where he truly lived out the work hard play harder motto. Rick was also known for his impeccable style, often sporting custom suits and perfectly starched shirts. He had a gift for making life fun, bringing people together, and creating stories that will be told for generations. His friendships were among the greatest joys of his life, and the love shown to him by so many people was a true reflection of the lasting impact he made.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Gene Oscar Ammon and Alicia de Regil Ammon; sisters, Alicia Ammon Bourgeois and Sandra Ammon Rester; nieces, Shay Shilling and Tracy Comeaux; nephew, Ryan Esnard; and father-in-law, Raymond Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Smith Ammon; sister, Donna Comeaux; sons, Richard Boyd Ammon II (Gabriela), Brandon Scott Ammon (Katelyn), and Brian Gene Ammon; his cherished grandchildren, Ory, Anders, Scarlett, Mary Kate, and Savanna; his nephew, Chivas Comeaux; his niece, Kaylon Oglesby; mother-in-law, Linda Smith; and stepdaughters, Claire Shriver, Chloe Shriver Jones (Zachary), and Caroline Shriver.
Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 9:30am until the funeral service at 11am.
