A longtime resident of Baton Rouge and a native of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday May 31, 2013. He was born on August 6, 1937, in El Dorado and lived in various towns in Arkansas before moving to Baton Rouge as a senior in high school. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1955 and was a graduate of Louisiana State University where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and worked as a business and tax consultant. Richard was an avid golfer and sports fan and was blessed to have spent a few of his last days on the golf course with his buddies. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Yvonne Borne Thompson, a daughter, Lori Hinton and her husband, Britt Hinton, of Watson; four grandchildren; Karl Krousel, Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Charlotte, NC, and Jake Krousel, Taylor Hinton and Shelby Hinton of Watson. He is also survived by two great grandchildren Landon and Soryn Krousel and a sister, Mary Jo Hunt, of Little Rock Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Vicki Lynn Thompson, his parents, Thomas P. Thompson and Mildred P. Thompson; a brother, Thomas Paul Thompson, Jr., and a sister, Mildred Echlin. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday June 3, 2013 from 10 a.m. till service time at 12 p.m., conducted by Chaplain Barry Lagg.
