
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Butterfly Wing of Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was 94 and a retired seamstress. Visitation at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Allen, celebrant. There will be a recitation of the holy rosary at 10 a.m. Interment in Gilbert Memorial Park. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Larry Chustz, Baton Rouge; daughter-in-law and her husband, Elaine and Cornell Beauregard, Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Karen and husband Junius Dural, Lori and husband Dan Berry, Brandie Chustz, Nicole and husband Michael Johnson, and Toni Chustz; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Stanley Boutte; two sisters, Kathy Bienville and Alma Juge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Charles Vavasseur; son, John Robert Vavasseur; four brothers and a sister. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters Court Regina Coeli 2063. She belonged to a rosary group and also enjoyed playing cards in her Pokeno group. Serving as pallbearers will be Cornell Beauregard, Junius Dural, Dan Berry, Walton Bean, Jeffrey Juge and Dwight Rozier.
