

Rita Alello Corsentino, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on December 8, 1931, in Baton Rouge, Rita carried strength, warmth, and fierce devotion to her family throughout her life. Her home was a gathering place filled with loud conversations, strong opinions, laughter, endless food, and unconditional love. She was known for her generous heart, devotion to her husband and family, nurturing spirit, and her ability to feed twenty marines every afternoon. Whether she was cooking Sunday dinner or caring for her husband and grandchildren, she loved deeply and completely. Rita devoted her life to her family and took immense pride in raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She taught those around her the importance of love, loyalty, hard work, faith, and tradition. She is survived by her children, Sheila Blount and her husband, David Blount, Darlene Cunningham and her husband, Bob Cunningham, and Michele Laporte; grandchildren, Melody Smyser, Megan Knapp, Lindsay Dean, Brian Irvin, David Irvin, Nicholas and Marisa Laporte; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Corsentino; siblings; Oscar Alello, Sam Alello, Joe Alello, Frank Alello, Russell Alello, Rosalie Montagnino, Anna Mae Montagnino, and Lucille Montagnino. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Greenoak’s Memorial Park.
