
Everett, Rita "Pappy" JohnsonRita was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Opelousas. She passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 73. Rita began her career as an Executive Legal Secretary and then worked for Louisiana Association for Justice (formerly Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association) for over 35 years, retiring in 2011. For years, Rita's voice greeted callers to the LAJ office and for many a call to LAJ was not complete until talking to her. She was an avid reader, enjoyed keeping up with her friends and family on Facebook, and especially spending time with her 3 grandchildren. She is survived by husband of 50 years, Emmett Everett; son, Christopher Randall Everett, and Erin Michelli; two daughters, Sara Elizabeth Everett, Baton Rouge and Susan Everett Dyson, and husband, W. Quentin Dyson, of Katy, TX; siblings; Barbara Soileau and husband Gerald Soileau, Zachary, LA, Crawford "Buddy" Johnson, Jr and wife, Charlene Johnson, Port Allen, Claudia "Tootie" Joubert and husband Nelson Joubert, Opelousas; three grandchildren, Emma Katherine, Avery Elizabeth, William Fletcher Dyson; sister-in-law, Wanda Young Johnson of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Elizabeth June Elliott and husband, Maurice Elliott. She is preceded in death by her parents, Crawford Johnson of Washington, LA and Claudia Chelette of Bayou Jack, LA and brother, Floyd Johnson of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow services at Roselawn Memorial Park.
