Robert was a pipe fitter with the Shaw group, a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was 31. Robert is survived by his father, Carl D. Coates; mother, Cindy Latino; four brothers, Carl Coates Jr., Michael Coates, Christopher Coates, and Sgt. Anthony Coates (U.S. Marine Corps) and wife Bonnie; and two nieces, Aurora Pappas and Natalyn Coates. Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Latino; and paternal grandfather, Eyler Coates. Pallbearers will be the brothers. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 9, from noon until service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Robert loved being a disc jockey for his friends.
