
Robert Kelly Gillespie passed away Friday morning, Jan. 12, 2007, at his home in Central. He was 77. Upon returning from service in the U.S. Air Force in 1954, he, along with his brother-in-law, took over Gillespie Lumber&Supply Co. Inc., a business started by his father, and ran that business until 1995, when he retired. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Reda Hoyt Gillespie; son, Thomas Reed Gillespie; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Mike Morace; granddaughter, Meegan Lee Young; great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Marie Duplechain; grandson, Robert Thomas Young; great-granddaughter, Paiton Rene Young; great-grandson, Cade Thomas Young; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo Forshag and Toby Forshag. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Theresa Marie Gillespie and Claude Edward Gillespie; and a brother, Claude Edward Gillespie Jr. He was blessed with two special brothers-in-law, Toby Forshag, who was his partner in business for 39 years, and Arlo Chavers, M.D., who was a source of comfort to him and his family throughout the years. Visitation will be atZoarBaptistChurchon Sunday, Jan. 14, from 1 p.m.until religious service at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Glen Miers. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
