

Robert L. "Robby" Cangelosi, Jr., 52, of Baton Rouge, died Friday, May 1st, due to pancreatic cancer. He was born to Robert Lawrence Cangelosi and Frances Pecora Cangelosi, October 15, 1962, in Baton Rouge. Robby was reared and schooled in Baton Rouge, attending St. Aloysius School, Catholic High School (1980 graduate), and LSU (1985 graduate, Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; 1987 graduate, Master's degree in Engineering Management). Upon earning his Master's Degree in 1987, Robby moved to Maryland to work as an engineer. He returned home to Baton Rouge in 1997 with advanced engineering experience and flourished in the engineering industry. He was married to his surviving widow and soulmate, Toni Latuso Cangelosi. He is survived by four sons, Michael Anthony "Mac" Cangelosi, Chase Robert Cangelosi, Nicholas Quinn Latuso, and Brandon Lane Schrimsher. He is also survived by his parents, Robert Lawrence Cangelosi and Frances Pecora Cangelosi, a sister Colleen Cangelosi Coffman (husband Tracy Coffman), two brothers, Richard Guy "Ricky" Cangelosi (wife Nicole) and Randal Roe "Randy" Cangelosi (wife Korie), Teri Ramos Cangelosi (mother of Mac and Chase), and a host of loving nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, coworkers and friends, and his dog, Shelby. He was the Principal in Charge and Office Manager of the Baton Rouge office of T. Baker Smith professional services firm. He was a deeply religious man, a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was a very active member of our community. His hobbies were spending time with his family and managing his various rental properties. Robby was an eternal optimist, always smiling and joking, having a positive effect on others. He loved his family, was unsuppressibly loyal to all of his friends, and thrived on helping others. His faith was the bedrock of his optimism, which never wavered during his cancer treatment. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Florida Blvd. on Monday, May 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Visitation on Tuesday, May 5th will be from 8:30 to 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, with funeral services following at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 10 am, and burial thereafter at Roselawn Cemetery.
