He was born in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church. He attended St. George School, Catholic High School, and graduated from the Baton Rouge Vo-tech School. He got his associates in HVAC but started his journey at Keller Pools due to his electrical knowledge. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4030, where his leadership and service shone once again as he became a Grand Knight there from 1987 - 1989.
At St. George he started his music career playing the trombone. He played sports here as well, basketball, football and during the summertime began to play softball. His love for sports began when his dad started him into sports with softball, basketball intramurals, then with the 7th and 8th grade teams at St. George. His love for sports bloomed from St. George to Catholic high and then LSU. He was listening to the Tiger baseball team as they punched their ticket to Omaha.
Robert was a member of the Catholic High Marching Band where he played trombone. His love of music led him to learn many more brass instruments.
Robert was also a Boy Scout lead by his dad for many years, from 4th grade until freshman year in college.
Robert is preceded in death by his father Rupert N. Rodriguez, sister Roxane R. Cooper, brother Ruben R. Rodriguez, and brother-in-law W. Richard Morales.
He leaves behind his mom Yolanda R. Rodriguez of Baton Rouge, sister Rachel R. Morales of Zachary, LA., sister Rose E. Rodriguez Bell of Dallas, TX. (George Baxter Bell), brother Rafael R. Rodriguez of Baton Rouge, LA. (Deborah Jan McBride), Martha Rodriguez Godmother of Monterrey, MX. And brother-in-law Dwayne Cooper of Baton Rouge, LA.
He had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved: Joseph D. Fowler, Samuel R. George, Kathleen E. George, Alexandra R. Rodriguez, Rafael Tyler Rodriguez, Gabriela E. Morales (Jason Augusta), Michelle M. Morales, Reid A. Cooper, Joshua A. Cooper, Elise A. Cooper, Parker E. Rodriguez, Joseph M. Rodriguez, Isaac R. Rodriguez, Skylar Tripodi, Jason D. Fowler, and Jonas G. Fowler.
Pallbearers will be: Rafael Rodriguez, George Bell, Dwayne Cooper, Reid Cooper, and Joshua A. Cooper.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Joseph Fowler, Samuel George, and Juan Alberto Rodriguez.
All those who knew Robert knew how much he loved eating at Frank’s every weekend.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 6pm until 9pm, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm. Visiting will resume on Wednesday at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr, at 8am and will continue until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
