Dear Jeanette and Family,

   I just wanted to add a note to Kathy's, to say how all of our family in New Orleans and beyond remember Rodney as such a generous, open, welcoming and warm human being.  I personally will never forget how you and Rodney cared for Nobie in Baton Rouge when, in her last years, she had to evacuate the city after yet another hurricane.  She loved him like a son.  Rodney was always a wonderful source of laughter and good cheer at all our family gatherings--and they go back many, many years!  What great stories and memories he has given to us.     Ruthie

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of the loss of Rodney.  In fact, it's hard for this news to sink in because he was always so energetic and full of life and fun.  I have so many good memories of him going way back to childhood, spending time with him at family picnics and get togethers, etc.  He was always the good natured one, always laughing and with a smile on his face, kind and and always ready to lend a helping hand.

I remember it put a smile on all our faces when he got Nobie to dance with him at Peggy and James's wedding.  :)

Several years ago when he was working for Gtech and came to Austin he came over and had dinner with Rog and I.  I still remeber it well - we had such a nice visit.

I can't imagine how hard it will be for all of you to adjust to this but hang in there - he is in a wonderful place now - I'm sure of it.

My heart goes out to all of you.

Mayer Family,

Sorry it has taken so long for me to post a message but I just couldn't find the words to express the way I feel about Mr. Mayer, I still can't but will try.  Watching you all come together the last couple of days would have made Mr. Mayer very happy.  As you know family was everything I think we know best he has made us part of his family since Jeff and I met.  I think I'm most greatful for the love and support he has given to my boys, he has always been there for them.  He is truly the greatest man I have ever had the pleasure to know and love.

This man lived and breathed for his family. I had the pleasure to speak with him last Friday night while he was at the ball park watching his grandchild play ball. Also enjoyed speaking with him at every sporting event in which my kids were playing against his grandchildren. Always smiling and enjoying life. He will be missed by all. I can say that I am a better man for having shared moments in my life with Mr. Rodney and his family. God bless the Mayer family.

I knew Rodney from Dept of Ins where he had Mayer IT.  He was such a jovial, delightful person & a very intelligent business man! He would always stop by my desk & we shared many stories togeather as he loved talking about his past boating as he loved the water! He will truely be missed by all.  I will be praying for his family as well as his wonderful IT Staff whom he was so very proud of & loved dearly.  May you rest in peace with our Father in Heaven!

I will always have great memories of Rodney.  My folks had a lot of family parties when I was young and Rodney always seemed to be the life of the party.  He will be missed by all the Thompsons.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I've had the honor of knowing Mr. Rodney since 78'. He was a true family man that made the same out of his four sons. If something broke.....he would fix it! He was a huge Tiger fan. Maybe he can send some play calling down from heaven to the Tigers soon. I know he sure would like to. He will be truly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Mayer family for strength during these trying times.
