
Roger, 71, went to meet our Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, after a 14-month battle with stomach cancer. He was a wonderful husband, dad, Papa and brother. He was a retired independent distributor for Borden Dairy. He was an avid NASCAR fan, having enjoyed many trips to Talladega, Ala., with his children. Roger loved going to the Promise Keepers Bible Study and the many friends he met there. Another enjoyment was Brother Dennis's Sunday class with the wonderful group of believers. Being a part of Zoar's disaster relief with his dear Brother-in-Christ, Charles Watson, was a great experience for him. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret Russell Rome; son, Chris Rome; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Larry Seguin; grandsons, Rhett and Rory Seguin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanda and Mike Babin, Beth and Henry Bonnecaze, Veda and Chuck Smith, and Denise and Ricky Soileau; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Elana Rome; stepbrothers and their spouses, Adrian and Minna Kaiser and John and Carol Kaiser; brother-in-law, Lamon Thames; sister-in-law, Helen Russell; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by Dr. Kevin Hand and Brother T.W. Terrell. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Bonnecaze Jr., Mike Bonnecaze, Kenny Bourgeois, Earl Rome Jr., Jerry Thames and Mike Townley. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Booth, Mike Thames and Brent Townley. Preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy B. Kaiser; dad, Roger R. Rome Jr.; stepfather, Adrian Kaiser; and sister-in-law, Ida Thames. Many thanks to Dr. G. Miletello and his staff for the care they gave.
