After a courageous battle against ALS, Keith died at home on Saturday, April 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. Keith was born on October 1, 1957 to George (Pete) Dunn and Bettye Dunn. He lived most of his life in Baton Rouge and worked for BFI/Republic Services/Colonial Landfill for 39 years. He was "most always the first to arrive to work and the last to leave" as his former manager, Darrell Acosta, would say. Keith was respected for his knowledge of the landfill business and was awarded much recognition over his 39 years in that business. Most recently, Keith was named 2020 Operator of the Year for the National Waste & Recycling Association. A great honor for him and Republic Services/Colonial Landfill. His co-workers were family to him and many of the vendors were too. Keith loved visiting his grandchildren, Madisynn & Beckham, and watching Madisynn play softball on her team Phoenix and Beckham go swimming. Another one of his passions was playing Fantasy Football which he did for over 30 years with his dear friend, Duane Humphries (Colonial Colonels). He loved fishing with his long-time friend and avid fisherman/Captain guide, Mark Harrington. Keith loved LSU sports (particularly LSU Football), New Orleans Saints football, a good steak and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He loved his family! Keith is survived by his partner in love and life of 17 years Susan Skinner, two children Joshua and Matthew (Mary), granddaughter Madisynn and grandson Beckham. Survived by brother Mike Dunn (Anita) and sister Karen Dunn Little (David). Also survived by nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Patrick Dunn. The family wishes to thank the Ochsner ALS Center in Jefferson, LA for their care and compassion in particular Dr. Stephen Kantrow, Jena Hampton and Lenny Burgos. The family also wishes to thank Quincy Futrell MRC, MPH, RRT for his many home visits done with care, patience and compassion. Sending very special thanks to Tara Dupaty (work wife) and Kirby Thompson (manager) for their love and support during and after Keith's good and not-so-good days. A memorial visitation for Keith will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Team Gleason Foundation.
