
Ronald Sapp passed away on Thursday March 19, 2015 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. Born in New Orleans on February 20, 1935 he came to Baton Rouge to attend LSU, then stayed to start his family and career. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Anne, sister Sylvia Sapp, and parents James and Olga Sapp. Survived by son David and wife Phoebe of Prairieville, son Christopher Sapp of Baton Rouge, grandchildren Jacob, Madison, and Matthew Sapp of Prairieville, nephews Howard Wentworth of Ft. Worth, TX, Peter and Dio Wentworth of Broken Arrow, OK, sister-in-law Jeanne and husband Dave Wentworth of Albuquerque, NM, sister-in-law Barbara Strauss of Kenner. Growing up in the French Quarter fostered his appreciation of buildings which led to a career as an architect. Upon completion of his education at LSU and service in the U.S. Army, Ronnie worked for firms in New Orleans and Baton Rouge before starting his own firm in 1971. Among the 500+ projects he designed, were buildings for over 30 bank systems, many for LNB (now Chase). His best known projects included Catfishtown Festival Marketplace, Ortilieb Press, LNB Tara branch and 30 historical restoration projects that included Asphodel, Oakland, and Greenwood plantation homes. Ronnie enjoyed daily Coffee Call visits with his friend Lionel Hotstream, crossword puzzles and sketching buildings but his love and time for his grandchildren were his top priority. His family expresses much love and thanks for Terra Hotstream for the amazing love, assistance, and support she provided during Ronnie's final days. The family also thanks the staffs of Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet and The Carpenter House for their care of Ronnie.
