
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. He was a retired supervisor and traffic engineer for the city of Baton Rouge with 25 years of service and a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association for 42 years and staff member for the past 10 years. He was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Greenwell Springs. R.B. died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Baton Rouge, at age 79. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Moroney, celebrant. Interment with military honors at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Mae Silvio Maranto; three daughters and their spouses, Vickie and Bobby DeArmond, Rose and Ricky Marshall, and Anita and Robbie Godwin; sister, Tina Bonnano; brother, Louis Maranto; seven grandchildren, Jason Marshall and wife Felicia, Kasey Meyers, Jeremy Marshall, Darren Legier, Taylor Legier, Elizabeth Godwin and Jessica Godwin; two great-grandchildren, Madison Dupuis and Jaise Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Salvadore and Carmen D'Amico Maranto; nine brothers and a sister. Pallbearers will be Carlin Silvio, Arthur Gibbs, Paul Silvio, Paul Bordelon, Ronnie Maranto, Austin Reed, Trey Guidry and David Silvio. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Usher Society.
