
Rosemary Gilbert passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at the age of 68 after a long and courageous battle with liver cancer. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Rosemary was owner and operator of Merchant's Landing Flea Market for 14 years. A loving mother, wife, sister and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, April 26, from 5 p.m.until memorial service at 7 p.m.She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David H. Gilbert; son and daughter-in-law, David W. Gilbert and Laura Gignac of Tampa, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kim Gilbert of Prairieville; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Joseph E. "Buddy" Stockwell III of Baton Rouge; and six grandchildren, Harold Gignac, Kyle Gilbert, Maryn Gilbert, Lindsey Gilbert, Ryan Gilbert and Jolie Gilbert. Rosemary is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Sallee. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert Oldham and Vivian Oldham Rye; sister, Kathryn Leach; and an infant daughter, Jeanette. The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their kind and loving care of Rosemary during her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
