Rosa Lee “Rosie” Thibodeaux Sonnier, a native of Lawtell and resident of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 5th 2024, at the age of 81. She was a loving wife, beloved mother & grandmother, devoted sister and friend to many. As a young lady she was crowned Miss Lawtell. Her radiant style, trendy fashion and business sense made her a very successful business owner and led her to open one of the first Tanning Salons in Baton Rouge. Her love of music and dancing was well known to everyone. If there was music, she was dancing and if there was a dance floor, she was on it. She and Jude traveled the country teaching Cajun dancing to many. She was a long-time member of the Bayou Belles Tom Jones fan club in Baton Rouge and met him several times. In keeping with her Cajun heritage, she was an amazing cook. Ca c’est bon. She is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Jude Craig Sonnier; her two sons, Todd Sonnier (Kim) and Joel Sonnier; her grandsons, Michael Sonnier (Tori) and Troy Sonnier; and her sister, Gloria Matte (Gene). She is preceded in death by her parents, Onezime and Donnatile Thibodeaux; her brother, Rodney Thibodeaux; and sister, Unita Fall. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until memorial services at 3:30 pm Thursday, November 14th, 2024 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Claiborne Memory Care and The Carpenter House for taking such good care of Rosie.
