Roy Clifford Evans passed away peacefully with his family by his side the morning of May 1, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. Cliff was born November 18, 1935 in Greenville, MS. He graduated from LSU and faithfully served in the U.S. Army. He then constructed homes in Mississippi and worked in the tugboat business before retiring in Baton Rouge. Cliff met his wife Elva at LSU. Through 59 happy years of marriage they had two children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: son Will Evans and wife Mary, daughter Julie Tucker and husband Larry; grandchildren Kaylee Hartung, Tyler Hartung, William Evans, Jr., Michelle Brenan, Timothy Brenan and wife Jenna, Memry Tucker, Lauren Ketteringham and husband Jeremy, Morgan Tucker, Jon Austin Tucker and wife Taylor; great grandchildren Havana Brenan, Rhett Dake, Grant Dake and Mikayla Ketteringham. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Nora Evans; siblings Bud Evans, Elsie Gern, Jean Adair and Dudley Evans; son-in-law Joe Hartung and grandson Joe Hartung, Jr. Cliff found peace in his final days as he laid his older brother Army Cpl. Dudley Evans' remains to rest in their hometown of Greenville, MS 65 years after his death. During the Korean War Cpl. Evans was taken as a prisoner of war by the Chinese and killed shortly after. His remains were returned to the United States in the early 90s and positively identified just a year ago. Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge at 10am Tuesday, May 3. A service will follow at First Methodist's Columbarium at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity or to First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
