
A longtime resident of Baton Rougeand a native of New Orleans, he died at 11:30 a.m.Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at the age of 75. He was the husband of Josie Michelli Laran. He also is survived by a son, Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Todd Mullis; granddaughter, Caitlyn Marie; grandson, Jacob Andrew; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Edna Laran; two sisters, Norma Laran and Mildred Laran Lewis; and brother, Benjamin Jr. He was a graduate ofLoyolaUniversitywith a B.S. degree in chemistry. He also attended and graduated fromOklahomaStateUniversitywith M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry. He retired from CIBA-Geigy Corp. as a senior development associate. He was a 50-year member of the American Chemical Society and a longtime member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 2, starting at 10 a.m. followed by acelebration of Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tom Duhé, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Bill Davis, John Perrin, Julian Honeycutt, Allen Lockwood, Robert Eckert, Todd Mullis and Robert Raziano. Honorary pallbearers are Emile Berner, Phil Bejeaux, J.E. Haydel, Dr. Sury and Sam D'Amico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial Mass offerings or donations may be made to St. Alphonsus Church or your favorite charity. Interment inGreenoaksMemorial Park.
