
Roy Lee Morgan, 79, a native of Liberty, Miss., and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 8:40 p.m. from his home. Roy was born June 6, 1932. He was a veteran of the Korean War, in which he flew 28 missions as a radio operator in a B-29 Superfortress. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (ULM). Roy worked for State Farm Insurance Co. for 29 years as a claims specialist and fraud investigator. He was a ham radio operator (KB5LKG), loved flying and cherished his family. He was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was the friendly voice at the end of a warm handshake. Roy's sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him - he was a blessing to his family and friends. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jean Wascom Morgan; daughter, Sharon Hill and husband Darris, of Walker; son, Charles I. Morgan and wife Carletta, of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren (who were the delight of his life), Joshua Hill and wife Kelli, Daniel Hill and wife Callie, Kaeli Morgan, and Chaz Morgan; a brother, Lucius Morgan; three sisters-in-law, Mary, Rosalie and Marty Wascom; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Margaret Morgan; his parents-in-law, Ivy and Camilla Wascom; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold, Alex, Gerald and Billy Wascom, Yvonne and Burnett Day, and Hilda and Charles Patterson. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Sept. 16, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. officiated by Dr. Tommy Middleton.
