Roy Vandegrift

Roy Allen Vandegrift, a native of Delaware City, Delaware and a resident of Denham Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the age of 57. He was a US Navy veteran and retired from Delmarva Power/ Pepco after many years of service. Roy loved life and adored his family, had a heart for animals and a passion for music, especially his drums. He was a loving husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather who will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Vandegrift; parents, Dorothy and Frank Vandegrift Sr.; father and mother in law, Clayton and Linda Melson; daughters, Heather Davis and husband Shane, and Heather Vandegrift; brothers, Frank Vandegrift and wife Dee and Kenny Vandegrift; grandchildren, Avory Johnson, Brandon Davis, and Ansley Davis; sister in laws, Faith Johnson and Rob Rogers, and Marcy Johnson and husband Eric; brother in laws, Clay Melson and wife Arlene, and Drew Melson; and nieces and nephews, Misty Johnson, Cheyenne Johnson, Aren Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Michael Kleinpeter and wife Stephanie, Brittany Melson, William Melson, and Billy Melson and wife Keely. A memorial service will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Sunday, January 5, 2014 beginning at 1pm. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the funeral service.
