Roy Lee Welch

Roy Lee Welch passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on April 30, 1941, in Centreville, MS and was a resident of Baker, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn B. Welch; daughter, Lori Welch; parents, William and Allie Welch; brothers, Richard Welch and Jewel Edward Welch; and sister, Allie Rae Rogers. Roy is survived by three children, Steve Welch and wife, Laura, Stephanie Howerter and husband, Derek, and Nathan Welch and wife, Jennifer; nine grandchildren, Christopher Welch, Scott Welch, Joshua Welch, Ashlyn Vaughn, Victoria Vaughn, Brianna Broussard, Brooke Howerter, Evan Welch, and Jacob Welch; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Bjorn, Holden, Emiliana, Emmett, Blair and Oliver; and siblings, Clara Dean Harrison and husband, Ray, Irma Jean Roule and husband, Floyd, and Cramon Welch and wife, Etta. The family wants to thank caregivers Denise Gray and Shakeela Walker who's loving care supported Dad while he managed through difficult medical challenges. Dad was a millwright by trade and retired from Georgia Pacific paper mill in Port Hudson, LA. Dad was always witty, joking and a little prankish in his own subtle ways. In Dad’s younger years he enjoyed the outdoors with hunting and fishing. Dad was always working in his garden and on his tomato plants, he always had some type of project on-going and he was always willing to help out others with projects or needs. Dad spent a lot of time and love caring for Evelyn and in their younger years supporting her hobbies. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 9am until the funeral service at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers Christopher Welch, Scott Welch, Josh Welch, Evan Welch, Ray Harrison and Houston Laird.
