

Ruby Mary Broussard Chaney, native of Hope Villa and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at La Maison Leisure Living in Denham Springs at the age of 99. Ruby was a member of the Church of Christ Latter Day Saints in Baton Rouge. Gardening was a passion of hers and she grew the most beautiful flowers in her yard. Raising 5 children and having lots of grandchildren, Ruby always kept a clean home and loved family vacations. She will be missed dearly by her 5 children, Kathleen F. Armond and her husband Ernest J. Armond, Ruby Nell Pickering, Guy Dwain Ficklin and his wife Pat D. Ficklin, Jackie F. Duke and her husband Earl Duke, and John L. Chaney II and his wife Margie Chaney; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Chaney Sr.; parents, David and Ella Broussard; great granddaughter, Nicole Hall; 9 brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Lloyd Pickering. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of La Maison, and to Jamie at Hospice Compassus. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 12:00 pm until the Funeral Service begins at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
