

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he was born in Lafayette on July 23, 1939, and died Friday, March 11, 2011. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, March 13, from noon to 5 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Monday, March 14, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. He was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur, Texas. Survived by his companion of seven years, Mary Joyce G. Allen and her family; two sons, Matthew Decou and wife Melanie, of St. Amant, and Gene Decou, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Terri Decou Toler and husband Charles, of Bartlett, Tenn., and Jennifer Decou Doughty and husband Joseph, of Valdosta, Ga.; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrew Toler, Angela Authement, Adam, Alyssa, Ashley, Brittney and Courtney Doughty, and Phillip and Jordan Decou. Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jeanette LeBlanc Decou; and parents, Andrew Decou and Amanda Broussard Decou. He was also a member of Local Boiler Makers 589 and loved to travel extensively all over the United States.
