
Retired constable for the city of Baton Rouge from 1972 to 1995, Mr. Hicks passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge. He was 80 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a member and past president of the Louisiana City Marshals and City Constables associations, member and past president of the Catholic High Men's Club, past president of the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. An active volunteer, he gave much of his time to the LSU Kids Baseball Clinic and many other organizations and charities. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife of 54 years, June Cowart Hicks; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Berry, of Baton Rouge; two sons, Russell William Hicks III and wife Denise of Clinton, and Daryl Hicks and wife Natalie of Denham Springs, sister, Dorothy "Dot" David of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson; and sister, Thelma "Baby" Boudreaux. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park.
