Russell Joseph Junda, Jr.

Russell Joseph Junda, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the age of 78. He was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Prairieville, LA. Russell was in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a history buff and loved horror and old John Wayne and movies. In their younger years, he and his wife traveled out west, including the Smoky Mountains. Even though he and Bernice never had children, they found comfort in their four-legged fur babies. Russell is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Bernice; cousins, JoAnn Sirchia (Emile) and Johnny Sirchia (Gina); sister-in-law, Gloria Jones; nieces, Kim and Kristy; numerous other loving family members; and fur baby, Gabby. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Russell, Sr. and Antoinette Junda; and fur babies, Spencer and Molly. There will be a private service and burial for the family at a later date at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

The family appreciates everyone that has reached out to them during this difficult time. Donations may be made in Russell’s name to a VA charity of your choice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or any Catholic Mass.
