Ruth Nathan Kahn, 69, died at her home in Baton Rougeon Friday, Nov. 3, 2006. Born in Shreveport, she was a graduate ofNorthwesternUniversityinEvanston, Ill., then taught French and English in public high schools in Shreveportand Alexandria. She was a member of Congregations B'Nai Israel in Baton Rougeand Gemiluth Chassodim in Alexandriaand was active in both sisterhoods. She was a sustainer member of the Junior League of Alexandria. Ruth is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jack Kahn; two sons, Dr. Jeff Kahn and wife Dana and Brad Kahn and wife Jeannine; and five grandchildren, Rachel, Lauren, Jack, Nate and Mason, all of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by a brother, Max Nathan and fiancée Fran Swan of New Orleans; brother-in-law, Don Painter and wife Beverly of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Max and Esther Nathan of Shreveport. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitation in the chapel of John Kramer&Son in Alexandria on Sunday, Nov. 5, from noon until service at 2 p.m. Interment in the Reform Jewish Cemetery in Pineville.
