Ruth Therezine "Terry" Johnson was born on April 24, 1933 in Arbroth, LA to Paul Johnson (deceased) and Sally Marie LeBrane (deceased). On July 31, 2014 the Lord called home our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Ruth Therezine Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy G. Johnson, Sr. and her daughter M. Marie Powell, as well as siblings and her parents. Her family finds comfort in knowing there was a host of family to greet her and usher her home. She was the youngest of 10 siblings, deceased: Jerome Johnson, Mildred Johnson Young, Paul Johnson, Jr., Woodrow Johnson, Irma Johnson LeMay, Anthony Johnson, Haywood Johnson, and Oray Johnson, Sr. and one surviving brother, Lawrence "Charlesy" Johnson. Terry was married to Percy Garfield Johnson, Sr. for 44 years and had seven children: M. Marie Powell (deceased), Percy Garfield Johnson, Jr., David Conrad Johnson, Judy Ann Vargas, Peter Jeffery Johnson, Ruth Thearzine Johnson, and Paul Michael Johnson, Sr. , and their spouses:Christina Johnson, Phyllis Fabre (former), Carlos Vargas, Jr., Erica Johnson, and Sable Johnson. She had 21 grandchildren: Christin Anderson, Devon Vargas, Brandon Powell, Sr., Brooke Vargas, Peter Johnson, Jr., Rachael Young, Phelan Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Pharis Johnson, Carlos Vargas III, Seth Jackson, Taylor Johnson, Paul Johnson, Jr., Phaedra Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Diana Johnson, Victoria Johnson, Alyx Johnson, Rhyan Johnson, Ethan Johnson, and Percy Johnson III. She is also survived by her grandson-in-law, Donald Anderson and granddaughter-in-law, Anyea Vargas; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Terry was a faithful member of the Port Allen Church of Christ. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She graduated from McKinley High School, and attended Southern University. She worked as a substitute teacher at various elementary schools and was a health care professional at Our Lady of the Lake's Tau Center. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, from 9am until religious service at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Chenal Cemetery in Lakeland, LA.
