
A resident of Greenwell Springs, she died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at her home following a seven-month battle with a rare form of cancer. She was 81 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, April 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, on Friday, April 3, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Thomas P. Duhé and the Rev. Michael J. Moroney. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Braud Jr., of Gonzales, and Cheryl and Kevin Earle, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Maybelle Cannon, of Greenwell Springs; a sister-in-law, Ruby Pearson, of Terrell, Texas; three grandchildren, Larry Braud III, of Denver, Robyn Marie Simon and husband Matthew Kyle Simon, of Prairieville, and Jeffery R. Braud and wife Michelle Braud, of Gonzales; three great-grandchildren, Carley Laine Oakley, Dylan Cade Braud and Carson Kyle Simon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Henry R. Pearson; parents, Robert J. and Ruth Lavigne LeSage; sister, Jeanette Williams; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Pallbearers will be Larry Braud III, Jeffery R. Braud, Matthew Kyle Simon and Richard, Carl and Jeff Cobb. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmie R. Pearson and Neal Burton. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, a member and past treasurer of the St. Alphonsus Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1915, a member and longtime past treasurer of the Magnolia Club branch of the Louisiana Volunteers For Family and Community and a member of the New Horizon Club. Thanks to family and friends for their prayers and support, especially Joan Edwards and Josie Kusch for all they did for Momma. Thanks also to Brandi, Sherelle and all the staff at St. Joseph Hospice. And, a very special thank you to Kandie Stevens and Ursula Soloman who took such excellent care of Momma in her last days. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or the Molly Scardina Scholarship Fund. A very devout Catholic, Momma will always be remembered as being a good wife, loving mother and grandmother.
