"Sadie Lulky Weintraub passed away peacefully at St. James Place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the age of 99. She was born on December 15, 1918, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Sarah and Mayer Lulky. As the youngest of five children, Sadie was given the nickname Babe. She was for sixty-one years the beloved wife of Charles S. Weintraub, of blessed memory. They met not long before Pearl Harbor and married just weeks afterward, on December 28, 1941. The pillars of Sadie's life were home and family, faith and synagogue, and shared work with her beloved husband, whom she called "honey" every day of their life together. They owned and ran The Collegiate Shop, a ladies' shoes and ready-to-wear boutique in Sherman, Texas, before moving to Baton Rouge in 1999. Sadie is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Hans Sternberg; four grandchildren, Erich, Julie, Deborah, and Marc Sternberg; and nine great-grandchildren. The family thanks Hospice of Baton Rouge as well as the caregivers who devoted so much time and attention to Sadie in recent years. The burial took place at Beth Shalom Cemetery on May 18, 2018. Pallbearers included Hans Sternberg, Steve Ginsberg, Erich Sternberg, Marc Sternberg, Michael Roth, Paul Schoeman, Dr. Mark Posner, and Deborah Sternberg. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Beth Shalom Synagogue or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
