Sam LoCicero, a native of Hammond, LA, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at home surrounded by family at the age of 88. Sam was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to so many who will miss him greatly. He went to school for his barber’s license, and then continued in that career for over 60 years. Sam owned and operated Lil John’s Barbershop, where he earned the title “Flat Top King”. Over his years as a barber, he was featured in many appearances on TV and was even in the newspaper several times. Other than his love for his career, he also was a very avid LSU fan, a lover of the outdoors, and a great fisherman. Sam was also an army veteran who was very proud of his time served.
Sam is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Wales LoCicero; daughters, Saundra Ray (Billy) and Terri LoCicero Goodfellow (Lamar); grandchildren, Gillian Young-Smith (Michael), Ryan LoCicero, Brooke Dunaway (Chad), Laci LoCicero, Ashley Goodfellow, Samantha Walton (Justin), and Austin Goodfellow; great-grandchildren, Aaylah, Jaxon, and Lucy LoCicero, Gavin LoCicero Parker, Piper LoCicero, and Elise Harvey; sisters, Josephine Andrews (Rob) and Anne Duthu; brother, Frank LoCicero (Joann); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Wayne LoCicero; parents, Joseph and Nellie Pellichino LoCicero; and his 5 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray, Lamar Goodfellow, Austin Goodfellow, Ryan LoCicero, Jimmy LoCicero, and Larry LoCicero. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin LoCicero Parker and Jaxon LoCicero.
Visitation will be Monday, January 17, 2022, from 9:00-10:00am at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815. The funeral service will begin at 10:00am, with interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff with Heart of Hospice, and also Charles O’Neal and Mike Morgan for being such great friends for so many years.
