

Samuel Charles Politz, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was born on December 4, 1929, and passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 96. Known as the kindest, most generous man you could ever meet, Samuel touched the lives of all who knew him through his quiet strength, humility, and unwavering faith. Samuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked faithfully as a Plant Operator at Kaiser Aluminum for 38 years, demonstrating dedication and a strong work ethic throughout his career. A devout Catholic, Samuel was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where he served as a church usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Caruso Politz; his parents, Sam Politz Jr. and Mary Territo Politz; and his brothers, Joseph “Bubba” Politz and Marion Politz. Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rinaudo Politz; his children, Pamela Ann Abelseth, Cathy Politz, Donna (Darryl) Gaudin, Stephen Politz, Christopher (Holli) Politz, and Joseph Politz; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Malinda) Abelseth, Joshua Abelseth, Brandon Abelseth, and Derek (Alex) Gaudin; his great-grandchildren, Jayden Abelseth, Elleyana Abelseth, Austin Abelseth, Emma Abelseth, Cameron Rohde, Aiden Jacobs; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, located at 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806, on December 20, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. The committal service will take place at St. George Catholic Cemetery, 7808 St. George Dr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70809, at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers honored to serve are Keith Ruiz, Darryl Gaudin, Tommy LaPorte, Nicholas Abelseth, Kerry Ruiz, and Derek Gaudin. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Abelseth, Scott Politz, Tommy Politz, and Marcus Politz. The family extends special thanks to his caregivers, Rachel Walz and Esther Wilson, Eucharistic Minister, for their compassion and devoted care.
