Sarah Anne Mills Munson Creed

Sarah Anne Mills Munson Creed passed peacefully from this life on August 22, 2026, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, Sarah Anne attended Bernard Terrace Elementary School, University Laboratory School, and University High School, where she formed friendships that would last a lifetime and met her future husband, Kipp. While at U-High, she was a member of the homecoming court, queen of the May Court, a cheerleader, and a sponsor. Sarah Anne graduated from LSU with a B.S. in Education and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. For many years, she remained active in the Kappa Alumnae Association, serving on the house committee. Sarah Anne was a devoted lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Restoration and Stewardship committees. Her faith was at the center of her life and shaped the way she loved her family, served her community, and cared for others. Throughout her life, Sarah Anne was involved in many social and civic organizations and causes that were dear to her. She was a member of Cypress Club, Decorators, and Fais Do Do. She was presented by the Baton Rouge Assembly in 1964 and was queen of Achilles in 2005. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf with her friends at the Baton Rouge Country Club. She was a proud member of the National Society of Colonial Dames, and Friends of Sulgrave Manor. She was also a longtime member and sustainer of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Bar Auxiliary, and Baton Rouge Green. She generously supported causes including Magnolia Mound, Baton Rouge Green, and Girl Scouts. From an early age, Sarah Anne had a special love for animals. Growing up, much of her spare time was spent caring for and riding her beloved horse, Dixie, on the family's farm, Chug-Chug. When she was just five years old, she rode Dixie in a parade down Third Street. She also loved landscaping and gardening. No matter the season, you could find her outside working in her yard, planting, replanting, and making everything around her more beautiful. But of all the things Sarah Anne did in her life, nothing mattered more to her than her family. Sarah Anne shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Kipp. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, friendship, faith, and more than a few adventures. Their enduring love and devotion to one another was an example to their children, grandchildren and those that knew them. Sarah Anne loved to travel, especially to Europe. As part of their wedding vows, she made Kipp promise to take her to Europe every year—and he did. Their travels eventually took them all over the world. To her grandchildren, she was simply "Lovie." And being Lovie was one of the greatest joys of her life. There was almost nothing she would not do for her family. She babysat grandchildren, attended their countless school programs, sporting events, activities, and celebrations, and made sure she was present for the moments that mattered. She planned trips and adventures for her children and grandchildren and delighted in creating memories for them. Because they especially loved beaches, boats, and the water, she took them on countless trips to Orange Beach, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and Hawaii. She exemplified Proverbs 31:28-29: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Sarah Anne's love extended far beyond her immediate family. She had a remarkable ability to make the person in front of her feel as though they were the most important person in the world. She remembered the details, showed up when it mattered, and gave generously of her time, attention, and love. She was woven into the lives of so many people, and she will be missed every day.

While she is gone from our sight, her words, traditions, faith, and presence are engraved on the hearts of those who loved her. Her family's greatest hope is to honor her by carrying forward what she taught them: to love deeply, give generously, show up for the people you love, celebrate life's special moments, and make the ordinary beautiful. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Richard Creed, Jr. "Kipp"; her son, Richard Creed III; her daughter, Katherine Creed Gold; her son-in-law, Brooks Gold; her grandchildren, Brooks Creed Gold and Sarah Gale Gold; and her sisters, Susan Pipes Munson and Mary Katherine McKee; along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count. She was predeceased by her father, William Warren Munson; her mother, Sarah Pipes Munson; and her brother-in-law, Raymond McKee. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28th at the First Presbyterian Church one hour before the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, the family will host a private reception for relatives and close friends at the Baton Rouge Country Club. A private burial will be held at a later date at Young's Cemetery in Plains, Louisiana.
