Sarah Denicola

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sarah Denicola, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the age of 90. She was a resident of Denham Springs, LA. Sarah and her late husband, Jasper, owned Denicola’s Furniture Upholstery from 1949 to 2011. Besides playing cards with family and friends, she enjoyed cooking every Sunday for her family, particularly baking the traditional Italian cookies. She was also a devout Catholic that believed in the power of prayer. She spent many hours praying the rosary for loved ones. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Baker; five sons, Dennis and wife, Denise, Carl and wife, Deborah, Ricky and wife, Belinda, Daryl and fiancée, Ginger Price and D’Wayne and wife, Roxane; 11 grandchildren, Shannon LeBlanc and husband, Joe, Courtney Sanders and husband, Ryan, Devin and Derrick Denicola, Carlye Blair and husband, Daniel, Blake Denicola, Courtney Roberts and husband, Brandon, Carli Estelle and husband, Trent, Landon Denicola, Presley and Colton Denicola; 6 great-grandchildren, Ashton and Kyler LeBlanc, Riley and Finnley Sanders, and Harper and Molly Blair; one sister, Josie Denicola and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Denicola; her parents, Phillip and Katie Spooner; one brother, Joseph Spooner. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln., Denham Springs, LA, from 10:00AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staffs of Always Best Care, Old Jefferson Community Care Center and Clarity Hospice. Also, a special thanks to her two granddaughters, Shannon and Courtney, for the many years of special care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Sarah’s name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
