Scharla Alston Kaiser passed away on October 24, 2021 at the age of 75 after a 13-year battle with cancer. She is now at peace and in the arms of her heavenly father. Scharla was born in Cullman, Alabama as the oldest of six children. She was raised in Huntsville, Alabama and attended Mississippi State University where she received a degree in elementary education. In 1968 she married Jim Kaiser and started a life’s journey and family that included two children and three grandchildren. Scharla and Jim lived in ten different places, but called Baton Rouge home for 31 years. Scharla enjoyed life, friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jim Kaiser; daughter Christy Bacas and husband Chad Bacas; son Brent Kaiser; mother Icy Mae Raburn; sisters Valerie Thomley, Rita Blakely, Edna Boddie; brother Wade Alston; grandchildren Hillary Higginbotham, Beau Bacas, and Elliot Cowsert. She is preceded in death by her father Earl Alston and brother Clark Alston. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care Scharla received from the doctors and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 28th from 5 pm - 8 pm and on Friday, October 29th from 11am – 1 pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Ave. Service will follow at 1 pm.
