
He passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 96, a native of Alexandria, LA and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, an Elder, Deacon, Clerk of the Session and was named the first and only Elder Emeritus. Selser was the first Boy Scout Troop leader at the church, co-founded a Friday morning prayer group over 50 years ago that is still meeting, and was most proud of being the church bus driver. He also served as a member of the Presbytery Commission. Selser was a retired employee with Exxon Co., U.S.A. Selser is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Yvonne Tucker Pickett; son and daughter-in-law, Selser Robert Pickett, III and wife Jane of Chauvin, LA; daughter and son-in-law, Margene Ragsdale and husband Joseph of Hollywood, FL; grandchildren, Sarah Cazedessus and husband Craft, Selser Robert Pickett IV and wife April, Christopher Scott Ragsdale and wife Sophie and Ashley Joy Ragsdale; and great grandchildren, Craft Cazedessus, Jr., Tucker Riley Pickett, Marie DePeretti and Giovanna Yvonne Ragsdale. Visitation will be Saturday, January 18, 2014, 10:00 a.m. until religious services at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Blvd. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Government St. is in charge of arrangements.
