Shelley Black Davila, was born on December 11th 1970, in Jacksonville, Arkansas, Shelley moved to Baton Rouge with her family as a teenager and resided in Walker, Louisiana. She passed away unexpectedly on June 2nd, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 54. Shelley was a cherished daughter, loving mother to her 7 children, Lala to 8 grandbabies whom she adored tremendously, and a respected friend to many, She wandered through life like the wind—untamed, unbound, and guided by no path but her own- a true free spirit. She held her family and friends together with unwavering love, and her absence is felt deeply by all who knew her.
Shelley was a devoted partner to her long term significant other William “Ed” Easterling. She is survived by her parents: Linda and Earnest Lucas of Pass Christian, MS. and father Dr. Harold Lee Black of Mansfield, TX. her 7 children: Kayla Davila Hennigan, Hanna Rae Davila (Gavin), Jenna Rose Davila (Tripp), Myles Easterling (Kayla), Austin Easterling, Hunter Easterling, Allyissia Easterling (Ian), and her furbaby Jax. Along with the pride of her life- her 8 grandbabies: Zoe Easterling, Jase Ruiz, Asher Hennigan, Alaina Easterling, Bryna Hennigan, Ashton Easterling, Delilah Shaw, and Malcolm Sparks. Among numerous friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Shelley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Edith and Steve McInnis, paternal grandparents Era and Harold Black, Aunts Judy Gaudry and Mary Walker, Uncle John “Walter” McInnis, and niece Breanna Winborne.
Shelley truly embodied what it meant to live life to the fullest—she found joy in discovering new places and meeting new faces. Her home was the gathering place, where she loved to entertain, and have everyone present. She loved to be surrounded with nature, and with the people she loved the most.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70715.
