She passed away at age 67 on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at her home in Baton Rouge, where she had been a resident for 60 years. Born May 23, 1943, in Seale, Texas, and a graduate of Istrouma High School. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lundi Gay Cutrer; and her parents, Robert C. "Tater" and Imogene "Tillie" O'Rear. Shirley is survived by her husband of 33 years, Charles "Chuck" Franklin; her dog Dale, her precious shadow; sister-in-law, Sherry Franklin; son, Jim Cutrer and wife Julie; daughter, Christy Lynn Cutrer and husband Richard Eugene Summers; three granddaughters, Tori Cutrer, Mandi Williams and Darcey Cutrer Courville and husband Al Courville; special great-grandson, Hunter Courville; stepdaughter, Anna Franklin Waddell; stepson, Chad Franklin; stepgrandchildren, Taylor Summers, Eric and Magan Sund, and Amber Franklin; sisters-in-law, Gayle LeBlanc and Vicki Robertson; uncle and aunt, Sambo and Theresa Cutrer; cousins, Scott Neal, Debbie and husband Douglas Crawford and their son, Tyler, Frances and husband Jamie Gatlin and their sons, Gage, Eli and Noah, Rani and husband Douglas Glass and their sons, Kaden and Daltry, Terri Cutrer and her daughter, Kayla, Chris White, his wife, Dylea, and their kids, Ricky Turner, Susan Turner Smith and husband Larry Smith, Jason Smith, Kerri Smith Bigler and husband Dr. Peter Bigler and their kids; and devoted friends, Melva Williams and Pearlie Mae. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 3, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Graveside service and interment will be held at Line Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Kentwood on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 10:30 a.m. "We love you Nane and you will be dearly missed."
