

Shirley Buhler Shaffer passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 25, 1936 and was raised and resided in Greenwell Springs, La. She was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liquori Catholic Church. Having supported her husband and children through many entrepreneurship, she was a true example of a positive work ethic. She loved and devoted her life to her family. She also loved her friends, which were many.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Jesse Shaffer III, wife Suzanne; Lisa Hester, husband Terry; Charles Shaffer, wife Vanessa; Darryl Shaffer, wife Tara; Jeffry Shaffer, wife Sandy. Grandchildren: Rob Hebert (Layla); Kyle Hebert (Mindy); Lacee’ Sweezy (Beaugh); Amanda Impastato (Anthony); Jeffry Shaffer, Jr. (Tara); Jesse Shaffer IV (Amanda); Darryl Shaffer, Jr. (Lacey); Kirk Shaffer (Dawn); Marlana Firmin (Pete); Luke Milstead; Kristen Moran (Kevin); Maggie Taylor (Beau); Scott Hester; Charley Shaffer (Aaron); Logan Milstead (Lauren). Great Grandchildren: Jackson, Raleigh, Bayah, Bella, Rya, Charlie, Landry, Finn, Layna, Giana, Annie, Nikki, Amelia, Aspen, Isabel, Jesse V, Brynn, Stella, Oakleigh, and Lillie. Brothers Larry Buhler and Charles Lee Buhler, brother in law Ronnie Shaffer and wife Wanda, and sister in law Hilda Buhler.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Jesse Harris Shaffer, Jr., her parents Ernest and Amelie Buhler, her brothers Ernest, Jr., Delmar, and Carroll Buhler, and her great grandson Lawson Hebert.
Pallbearers will be: Rob Hebert, Kyle Hebert, Darryl Shaffer Jr., Jesse Shaffer IV, Jeffry Shaffer Jr., Kirk Shaffer, and Luke Milstead. Honorary pallbearers will be: Scott Hester, Charlie Sweezy, Finn Shaffer, Landry Hebert, Jesse Shaffer V, Jackson Hebert, and Raleigh Hebert.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of The Hospice of Baton Rouge and caregiver, Teresa Zion for the amazing love and support shown to our beloved and her family.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on March 20, from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. with services starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
