Shirley Jean Penn Thompson, 87, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, peacefully departed this earthly life and rose into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on October 12, 2026. Before her passing, Shirley was blessed with precious moments surrounded by her children and family, that will forever be treasured in their hearts.
Born on May 12, 1939, in Shidler, Oklahoma, Shirley lived a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family. She was blessed with a beloved and devoted husband, Don F. Thompson Sr., and four wonderful children who were the center of her world. Her greatest joy was her family, and she dedicated her life to loving them, caring for them, and making sure they always knew they were cherished.
Shirley had a beautiful, giving heart and a special way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. She was a fabulous cook, had a natural talent for interior decorating, and took great pride in making her home a warm and inviting place. Her door was always open to family, and there was often a delicious meal waiting at the table, followed by laughter, stories, and friendly card games.
Above all, Shirley was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud and adoring Nana. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren, help care for them, and keep her family close. Her love was shown not only through her words, but through the countless things she did each day to care for the people she held dear. Her home was a place of comfort, her kitchen a place of gathering, and her heart a place where her family would always belong.
She is survived by her loving children, Treashur Sanchez (Bob), Candy Johnson, and Todd C. Thompson (Vickie); her sister Patty Ross and her beloved grandchildren, whom she lovingly cherished as their Nana: Joshua Sanchez, Corey Sanchez, Ali Kelly, Paris Land, Johnathan Johnson, Todd C. Thompson II, and Tyler Thompson. She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don F. Thompson Sr.; her son, Don F. Thompson Jr.; her parents, Claude and Millie Penn; her siblings, Claude Penn Jr., Freddie Penn, Joe Penn, Peggy Seale, and Sally Ganne; and her son-in-law, Scott Johnson.
While she has left this earthly home, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family takes comfort in the faith that she has been reunited in Heaven with those who went before her, resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Tammy Penn, Claudine, and the entire Penn family for their unwavering love, support, and for always being there when it mattered most. A special and sincere thank-you is also extended to Brittany and Crystal for the wonderful, compassionate care they gave Shirley. Your kindness and loving hearts will never be forgotten.
Shirley will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be Nana.
Until we meet again in Heaven, may she rest in everlasting peace, wrapped in the love of her Heavenly Father.
