

"Sidney Brock Sanders passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the age of 83. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 5, 1933, and was a resident of Baton Rouge. As a young man of 18, Sid served in the US Airforce during WWII as a codebreaker in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he met the love of his life Teresa Pluta Sanders. After they married and returned to the United States, he went on to receive his BS Degree in Business from LSU in 1958, and soon after founded Alexander and Sanders Insurance Agency, Inc. He obtained his Charter Property Casualty Underwriter Designation, (CPCU) immediately following graduation. In his career, Sid served as President of the local CPCU chapter from 1988-1989. He acted as a Director of the DPIC Pacific Reinsurance Company Limited, Hong Kong, from 1983-1986. Sid was one of the founding members of the Professional Liability Agents Network (PLAN) and proudly served as a board member for many years. Sid was an avid conservationist and a passionate bass fisherman. He was one of two Board Members of the East Ascension Sportsman's League (EASL) to receive the Governors' Program Organization Conservationist of the Year Award in 1993 for organizing and encouraging the restocking of the Atchafalaya Spillway and adjacent waters in the wake of the extensive fish kill caused by Hurricane Andrew. He was also a long-time member of the Baton Rouge Bass Club, where he was ""King Fisherman"" of the year nine times. Sid was a man of great integrity. He was a shining example respected by all who knew him. Mr. Sidney Brock Sanders will truly be missed in this world. He is survived by his sons Kenneth R. Sanders and spouse Heather Sanders; Wyatt M. Sanders and spouse Veronica ""Roni"" J. Sanders; Justin G. Sanders and spouse Amy W. Sanders; his brother, Alvin ""Al"" Sanders; grandchildren include, Jennifer Sanders, Zachary ""Zack"" Sanders, Kathryn ""Kali"" Sanders, Julia Sanders, Chloe Sanders, Logan Sanders and Beau Sanders. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 58 years, Teresa Pluta Sanders, his parents Wyatt Brock and Marcella Pike Sanders, his brother Richard Brock Sanders and a sister, Billie M. Sanders. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, 70815, from 9:00am to 11:00am. Service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am by Rev. Steve Berger, Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Gonzales, LA., with interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his sons Kenneth Sanders, Wyatt Sanders, Justin Sanders; grandsons Zach Sanders and Logan Sanders; and nephew Brock Sanders. We love and thank Ms. Anita Armstrong for her exceptional care and devotion to our father. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation.
