Sue Don Kinsley

Born on May 12, 1931, in Jonesville, Louisiana.

Sue lived a life defined by faith, family, education, and service to others. On June 4, 1954, she married the love of her life, Charles T. Kinsley Sr., beginning a marriage filled with love and devotion.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles T. Kinsley Sr.; her parents, Susie A. Peel and Donald O. Peel; her daughter, Kathy Kinsley Edgens; and her son-in-law, Hubert F. Kolb Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Kolb; her son, Charles T. Kinsley Jr. and his wife, Royeann; and her son-in-law, Gerald W. Edgens.

She was a proud grandmother to Katherine K. Neal (Dave), Brittany K. Elliser (Bryan), Breann K. Kelly (Michael), Hunter R. Edgens (Bailey), Heather L. Edgens, Jason M. Kolb (Lori), and Jeremy L. Kolb. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Harrison Neal, Brady Elliser, Briggs Elliser, Brooks Kelly, John Michael Kelly, Abel Landry, Easton Edgens, Greyson Thibodeaux, Gracie Kolb, Remi Kolb, Emily Evans (Jake), and Grant Kolb.

Sue graduated from Istrouma High School in 1948 before earning her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1954, where she was also a cheerleader. She later earned her master’s degree, furthering her lifelong commitment to education.

Her teaching career began at Hahnville High School before she returned to Baton Rouge, where she taught physical education at Istrouma Junior High, Park Forest Middle School, and Central Middle School. After obtaining her master’s degree, Sue became a librarian, serving many years at Central Middle School and Starkey Academy. Throughout her career, she inspired countless students with her kindness, enthusiasm, and dedication.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Sue enjoyed playing basketball during her years at Istrouma High School and later coached numerous teams while teaching. She especially loved watching her great grandkids play. A devoted LSU fan, she faithfully followed Tigers baseball and women’s basketball and continued attending games well into her nineties.

Sue also had a special talent for crocheting and lovingly created countless handmade gifts for her family and friends. Her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love for those around her will be remembered by all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gerald Miletello and the staff of Baton Rouge Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during Sue’s final days.

Sue’s legacy of love, dedication to education, and devotion to her family will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, July 27th, 2026, at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Rd., Baker LA. 70714 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
