It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Susan Gadmer Sanders, who was called home on July 16 at the age of 73. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, and she had been married to her loving husband for over 50 years.
Susan was born on September 10, 1952, in Bogalusa, LA, to Helen and Charles Gadmer. She earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees from Southeastern University. Susan taught elementary school for 38 years and cherished her many students. In addition to reading. gardening, and cooking, she enjoyed traveling and attending LSU football and baseball games with Don and their friends. Susan attended Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament and was deeply committed to her faith.
Susan is survived by her husband, Don; two children, Michael Sanders of Baton Rouge and Adrienne Sanders of New Orleans. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Margaret Farr and Barbara Alston. She was a loving aunt to her three nieces, Dr. Kimberly F. Mehendale, Tammy Muller, and Rachael Werner. She also adored her three nephews, Jason Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, and Jeffrey Sanders.
Visitation will be held on July 31 from 10-12, with a prayer service to follow. Interment will be at the Saint Joseph Abbey Cemetery for immediate family in St. Benedict, LA.
