

Born on September 8, 1942, in Mamou, Louisiana, Sybilene was the beloved youngest daughter of Lee and Beatrice Soileau.
In 1959, during her high school years, Sybilene was selected as Miss Mamou and went on to represent Mamou at the Cotton Festival in Ville Platte, Louisiana. After graduation, she moved to Baton Rouge, where she attended business school while working part-time at the Louisiana State Capitol. She later built a respected 26-year career as a mortgage loan officer with several banks and mortgage companies in Baton Rouge. Sybilene also served as president of the Mortgage Bankers Association and was twice elected president of the Association of Professional Mortgage Women.
A woman of deep faith, Sybilene was an ordained minister. She and her late husband, L.D., opened their home for “Gathering Place” meetings, where they shared their Christian faith and ministered to others until his illness. They traveled the world and hosted many with various celebratory events in their home. She will be remembered for her faith, humor, and love for people.
After her grandsons moved to Houston, Sybilene and L.D. followed in 2006. In Houston, she became involved in many social organizations and worked for seven years with various home builders.
Sybilene is survived by her two daughters who reside in the Houston area, Monica Harmon and her husband, Jay, and Bridget Parker and her husband, Keith; two grandsons, Joey Harmon and his wife, Emily, and Captain Christopher Harmon; her niece, Lorina Shuff Latour of Ville Platte, Louisiana; and her nephew, Aaron Fontenot and wife Mona Miller Fontenot of Georgetown, Texas. She was also fondly known as Mimi to the grandchildren and great grandchildren of the Parker family who she loved and welcomed by marriage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Aucoin, her daughter, Yvette Marie Aucoin, her sisters Mercedine Shuff and Anita Fontenot, as well as her parents. The family extends heartfelt thanks for the loving care provided to her by Darlene Mallory, The Abin Family, and Christine Martin.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Monday, August 24th, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Visitation beginning at 1:00PM and Service beginning at 2:00PM.
Pallbearers will be Jay Harmon, Keith Parker, Ian Fontenot, Joey Harmon, Chris Harmon and Simon Parker.
Her casket bouquet will be lovingly placed after burial on the tomb of her friend and former co-worker, Mary Scheffy.
